Indonesia will give incentives for medical personnel treating corona patients

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID,  JAKARTA -- Indonesia is fighting seriously against the outbreak of new coronavirus called Covid-19. Docters and medical personnel have work hard to cure corona patients day and night.

As reported, a number of medical personnel also became victims of the Corona virus malignancy. On Sunday (March, 22), at least three doctors died from corona novel virus (Covid-19) after treating patients who were positively infected by the virus. 

"The three doctors who died were neurologist Hadio Ali Khazatsin, surgeon specialist Djoko Judodjoko, and ear nose and throat specialist (ENT) Adi Mirsa Putra," said Chairperson of Indonesian Doctors Association (IDI) Daeng M Faqih.

President Joko Widodo mourned and expressed his condolences to the family and relatives of doctors, nurses, and other medical personnel who died from Covid-19.

"On behalf of the government, the state and the people, I would like to express my deepest gratitude for his hard work, for their struggles in dedicating the handling of Covid-19," President Jokowi said at Wisma Atlet Kemayoran, Monday (March, 23).

In appreciation of the hard work of the medical staff, the central government decided to provide monthly incentives for them. This monthly incentive is only given to doctors, nurses, and other medical personnel in areas that have established 'Covid-19 Emergency Response' status. The amount also varies, between Rp 5 million to Rp 15 million per month.

Specialist doctors were given monthly incentives of Rp 15 million, general practitioners and dentists at Rp 10 million, nursing staff at Rp 7.5 million, and other medical personnel at Rp 5 million.

"The government will give a death benefit of Rp 300 million and this only applies to regions that have declared emergency response," explained Jokowi.

Until Sunday (3/22), there were 514 positive Covid-19 patients in Indonesia. A total of 437 people were treated, 29 people recovered, and 48 people died.

Covid-19 patients spread in DKI Jakarta (307 people), West Java (59 people), Banten (47 people), East Java (41 people), Central Java (15 people), East Kalimantan (9 people), Yogyakarta (5 people) people), Riau Islands (4 people), Bali (3 people), Southeast Sulawesi (3 people), North Sumatra (2 people), West Kalimantan (2 people), Central Kalimantan (2 people), South Sulawesi (2 people) , Papua (2 people), Riau (1 person), Lampung (1 person), South Kalimantan (1 person), North Sulawesi (1 person), and Maluku (1 person).
